My Birthday Dinner Party
My Aunt and Uncle Sarah and TJ and their family came to have dinner with me last night. I enjoyed the dinner very much and got to try all sorts of tasty foods like Peking duck, sautéed fish, and roast pork. I kept on asking for more meat. Aunt Sarah said I am definitely a meat eater.

Napping
Trying to catch a quick nap at the airport before my trip to San Francisco. Mommy thinks I have the attitude of an adult in the way I nap with my arms folded under my head.

12 Month Doctor Visit
Mommy and Daddy took me for my 12 month checkup yesterday. My doctor asked all sorts of questions about how I've been doing, and Mommy and Daddy asked a lot of questions of the doctor. The doctor started checking me and at first it was ok with me. She took out a large metallic disk attached to black rubber tubes that ended in her ears and put the disk on my chest in various places. It was cold but I was more surprised than anything. However, I did not like the ear checkup or when she pressed on my tummy real hard several times because Mommy asked her why I have such as big belly. She said after checking that she thought things were ok. The doctor took my measurements next. I weight 23 pounds and 2 ounces and am now 30 3/4 inches tall and have a head circumference of 18 1/4 inches. Mommy said I haven't grown very much in the last three months. The doctor said that was because I'm on formula now whereas I was on breast milk before. She said breastfed babies grow really fast early on because it is such good nutrition. I'm 75-90% in weight and 75-90% in head size, but I'm no longer 95%++ in height like I was before. I'm only 90-95% in height now. There goes my professional basketball career aspirations. I'll just have to be a CEO or brain surgeon or something now, I guess. :)
After the doctor left, the nurse came in to give me shots. I was very angry and felt very betrayed by Mommy and Daddy, Daddy especially since he helped the nurse hold me down since Mommy couldn't do it. There were so many shots, 4 of them! 1) They punched a hole in my tiny little finger to check my hemoglobin; 2) they gave me a shot to check for exposure to TB; 3) they gave me a shot for MMR; 4) they gave me another shot for the PCV13 vaccine. I was very angry and cried a lot after the shots. Daddy and Mommy felt very bad for me. I will have to come back again soon, after Mommy gets her chicken pox vaccine shot first. The doctor thought it was a better idea to give me a shot after Mommy got her shot because otherwise, I might give her chicken pox and it apparently is bad for adults.
The nurse came back with the results of my hemoglobin test. I'm a little low on iron so they are going to recommend I get an iron supplement. Mommy suspects I inherited thalassemia minor from her. It's doesn't seem to affect Mommy any, so I'm not worried, but I think the measurements of my blood readings will always be slightly off because of it.

Magic Show Seating
I had so much fun at my party yesterday. It was nice of everyone to come to my party and help me celebrate my very first birthday. So many friends big and small came that there wasn't enough room on the floor and some folks including Berkeley's mom Miranda, Alvin's dad Steven, Beth and Rafael, Tze, and Jess all had to sit on the edges of the room. I hope everyone enjoyed the magic show as much as I did!
Party Time!
I had a lot of fun at my 1st birthday party. Grandpa and Grandma Meyers put on a magic show for me. This is Grandpa with his magical rabbit, Hou-bunny, who can do all sorts of tricks:
I even got a magic hat...
After the magic show, I made my cake disappear:
Then I put on a show of my own...
Finally, I showed off my dance moves...

Lazy Birthday Lounger
It's my birthday, so I'm just chillin' in my crib. I don't know what that means, but I heard some 5-year-olds say it at the playground.

Farmer Jordan
Mommy gave me this ear of corn to distract me. She didn't know that I figured out how to eat it. Mmmm... corn.
Playground Maniac
Mommy has been taking me to nearby playgrounds every day after work. I like running around and exploring. These are yesterday's pictures, when I was 1 due date year old!

Happy Due Day Squared!
Mommy says "happy due date" day! Daddy didn't know what she was talking about and she said it was a way to normalize everyone's birthday. Daddy said she needed to be normalized. That's mean, Daddy! Even if I don't get it either, it's still nice to have another day to be the center of everyone's attention. Oh wait, I guess that's every day for me. :)
I got to try strawberries this morning. They were a little tart.

Uncle Mark's Birthday
New Stroller
Daddy assembled my new stroller last night, and today I took my first outing in it. This stroller is desired for older kids and makes me feel like a big kid.

Cha Cha
Mommy and Daddy took me to Rainforest Cafe on Friday night. I liked looking at the animals. The monkeys sat behind me and I turned around many times to look at them. I was wary of them at first but they turned out to be alright.
Cha Cha came by to say hello. Mommy asked Cha Cha to take a picture with me. I didn't like how he was standing so close to me. If you were surrounded by a big green monster 10 times bigger than you and with blood-red eyes, you'd start wailing and looking for mama, too.

Merry Time (Messy Cherry Time)
30 seconds after this picture was taken, I painted the floor cherry red in Jackson Pollock style by flinging my popsicle stick down. Mommy did not look as excited by my artistic creation as she should have been!

Playground Play Time
Yesterday and today Mommy took me to the neighborhood playground so that I could walk around and play. I don't quite know what to make of the swing......or of the climbing wall.
Cake Tasting
Mommy and Daddy let me try out a piece of vegan chocolate cake this morning to make sure I'm not allergic to it. It was very yummy and I especially like the ability to create a mess and express my individuality. Do you like my "three musketeers" goatee?I only got a small piece today, but I'll get to have a nice big slice at my birthday party in ten days. It makes me very happy that I will be able to make an even bigger mess next time!
