Grumpy, Skeptical Tummy Timer

I want to do tummy time on my own terms, not when Mommy or Daddy is tired of carrying me around!

Sitting in the Grownup Chair

Daddy put me in Mommy's glider chair all by myself. I feel like a grown-up! Every time I kick my legs or wave my arms, the chair rocks a little. I like that!

I started sliding down on the chair, so to keep me propped up, Daddy constructed a mini-chair using the Boppy and the pillow from my Gymini. I didn't like it at all since it doesn't really allow me to sit up. I like being able to look around rather than only see the ceiling!

My First Wedding

Yesterday I attended a wedding for Mommy and Daddy's friends Beth and Rafael. It was a very nice event and I had a good time. Mommy and Daddy were amazed at how quiet I was. There were so many interesting things to look at! I liked watching the guests and looking at the pretty garden. I also liked looking at Beth's elegant wedding gown and the steampunk outfits many of the guests wore. It was a fun day!

Pool of Spit-up

I made a pool of spit-up on Daddy during a brief period of tummy time this morning. Daddy thought it was gross. I thought it was funny. Mommy thought she should capture a picture to show everyone. :)

Napping

Napping on a soft pillow, after having been gently rocked to sleep.

Baby Chair

I need a lot of entertainment. When I'm in my chair, Mommy sings to me, reads books to me, does random gymnastics, shows me swimming strokes and martial arts moves, and in general, performs weird movements in order to keep me entertained. I get bored easily, after all! Mommy tried hard, but the entertainment could be better. The expression on my face says it all...

Looking Around

I'm starting to like tummy time more now that I'm able to lift my head more consistently. I like looking around.

This is the Life...

I'm lying on a soft pillow, being rocked in the glider chair, but I'm not falling asleep. Mommy wonders if it's too comfortable and I'm staying awake so I can enjoy it!

Sitting Up... Sort Of

Today Mommy and Daddy propped me up on a pillow to see if I could sit up and to help me practice sitting up. I kept tipping over on the my right side and would eventually slide down, falling on my tummy.

Napping with Daddy

New Outfit

Mommy and Daddy have started putting me into sleepers with long sleeves and covered legs since it's turning cooler. I still have some onesies I can wear on warmer days. But they are new onesies, one size bigger. The onesies I wore for the last two months are a bit too snug and have been cleaned and put away.

Doctor's Visit

This afternoon Mommy and Daddy took me in to see the doctor for my two-month checkup. The doctor felt my belly, tested my legs, and checked my ears. Then she took some measurements. I weigh 14 lbs. 3 oz. and am 24 and 1/2 in. now. My head circumference is 15 7/8 in. When Mommy mentioned that last time I also measured 24 and 1/2 inches, the doctor said that the measurements are not very exact, and either last time or this time's measurement could be a little off. She said it was still ok since I'm still >95 percentile for both weight and height. My head circumference is at 80 percentile. (I guess that means that, relatively speaking, I've got a tiny head. Uh-oh, I better not say that to Mommy or she'll just have something new to worry about.)

When Mommy got done asking the doctor her questions (and there were sure a lot of them!), a nurse came in and gave me an oral vaccine and two shots. The second shot really hurt. I was pretty unhappy but quieted down after a minute or two. The visit made me pretty sleepy and I fell asleep on the car ride back home.

Catching a Few Winks

I often take mini snoozes during and after I eat. They don't usually last for long, though. Btw, those are not oven mitts on my hands. They are larger-sized mittens so that I won't scratch my face when I get overtired and cranky and start rubbing my hair and face with my hands.

Two Months Old!

I'm two months old today! Mommy says I'm a big girl now and need to start acting like one, with more organized night and day sleep.

Here are a couple of pictures to show how I look at two months old!

Graduation!

Today I graduated from Size 1 Pampers diapers to Size 2. The Size 1 diapers were getting snug. The Size 2 diapers fit better, but can you tell which diaper is Size 1 and which is Size 2? They seem to have about the same dimensions.

If anything, the diaper on the left seems like it could be bigger. But surprise, surprise, that's the Size 1 diaper! The only aspect that makes the Size 2 diaper "bigger" is that the diaper tape/tabs are moved further apart. The diaper on top is Size 1, and the diaper below it is Size 2.

Even though the Size 2 diapers aren't really any bigger, they are 15% more expensive. Mommy says, "what a scam!".

Smiling in My Swing

I like smiling in my swing. The mobiles are fun to look at!

Here's another picture of me smiling, color-corrected from Michael Smith. Thanks, Mike!

90-Degree Head Lift!

I've raised my head to a 90-degree angle before, but this is the first time Mommy was able capture a snapshot of it. I want to crawl soon so that I can get up and about on my own, rather than rely on Mommy and Daddy for locomotion. They don't move enough for my taste!

P.S. Don't you love my hairdo? :)

Burpie Time

I still get burpie time confused with tummy time. Yesterday I almost stopped moving for 2 seconds so Daddy could take a picture.

Things I Miss About Grandma Lai

Grandma Lai had to catch a plane this morning to go back home. I will miss her keeping me wrapped up cozily with blankets all the time.

I will also miss her taking pictures of me. I feel like a star then!

Going to Miss Grandma Lai

Grandma Lai has to leave tomorrow and I'm going to miss her. I like talking to her and smiling at her when I'm in my swing. She doesn't run off to finish chores and do computer stuff like Mommy does when I'm sitting in my swing and not fussing. Grandma sits and talks to me and calls me "cutie". I really like being called "cutie" and it makes me smile.

Mommy and Daddy don't hold me close and rock me to sleep, but Grandma does. Mommy can't believe that Grandma can hold me so long since she says her own arms feel like they will fall off after holding me for five minutes.

Grandma helps me fall asleep and get a really nice nap.

Grandma also constructs thoughtful tents like this so that I can have a dim, cozy place to sleep.

Chicago Botanic Garden

Yesterday we visited the Chicago Botanic Garden with Grandma Lai. Mommy took some colorful pictures of the flowers and plants.

These artistic shots of sunflowers and of the lake are actually photos that Daddy took.

Mommy forgot to take pictures of me and had to ask Daddy for ones that he took. Doesn't she know I am the star? :)

Visit on Sunday by Grandma and Grandpa Meyers

During Grandma and Grandpa Meyers' visit, I did some tummy time. I was able to lift my head really high, at a 90-degree angle. By the time Mommy got her camera out, I had gone back down. Everyone asked for an encore performance, but I was tired and didn't want to do it again. Hey, if you had a head the size I do compared to my body, you wouldn't be trying to lift your head to 90 degrees again so soon!

Grandma and Grandpa Meyers brought over a lot of pretty outfits just for me which were presents from some really nice people at their church!

Cooing

I like to coo at the mobiles in my swing. I also like to coo and talk to everyone!

Visit by Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Mark

Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Mark came over to visit me today. Aunt Jennifer played "stick out your tongue" with me. It was fun!

From Tummy to Back Yesterday!

Yesterday during tummy time I rolled over! I went from my tummy over on my left side to face up. Mommy and Grandma Lai were busy fumbling with cameras and didn't catch how I managed to flip myself over. They tried to get me to repeat my performance, but one time a day is enough for a little baby like me with a head more than 25% the size of my body! :)
