Sitting with Grandma

Grandma Lai has come all the way from California just to visit me! She says that I look very big in this picture. We are going to have a lot of fun together the next couple of weeks!

5 Years Old?

Mommy says that I look much older in this picture, like I'm five years old or so. Do you think so?

My First Christmas

Yesterday I had my first Christmas. It was fun to be with Grandma and Grandpa Meyers and Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Mark. Grandpa set up the toy train set so I could watch the train go around the Christmas tree. The train is like a real passenger train that people rode in earlier this century, only in miniature. It even has genuine lights and makes train sounds!

I like getting presents! I received the most presents. :)

It looks like I have even more presents when they were unwrapped. Daddy says he's not sure I deserve so many presents. That's mean, Daddy!

Have a 'Barry Mary' Christmas!

My friends Barry and Mary Christmas and I wish everyone a 'Barry Mary' Christmas and happy holiday season!

Reading is Fundameal

Mommy says that eating my books will not increase literacy in America.

I'm already eating at the kindergarten level.

Practice Makes Perfect

I've been practicing sitting up on my own. Actually, it's something that Mommy and Daddy make me do. It's kind of hard, though. But sometimes I like sitting up, since that's what I see big people doing all the time and I can see more.

Eating the Peacock

I like my new friend Jacque the Peacock. I'm not sure he likes me, though, because I like to eat him! His tail 'feathers' are very tasty. He is also very colorful and his high-contrast patterns make him a feast for the eyes and make him easy to spot!

After I'm done with chewing on him, I just drop him over the side of my high chair. I don't think he likes that either, but it's funny!

Five Months Old!....

...but I still haven't lost the "Dude, where's my car?" look. For some reason, this Exerciser Jumper flummoxes me.

First Game Night

Mommy and Daddy took me to game night yesterday with friends who coincidentally have the same last name as Daddy and me! In the picture below, it almost looks like I could be their kid, too, doesn't it? :) I got to play a little with Rob and Sonya's little one, Theo, but he's 14 months old, so that makes him a lot older than me. Someday I will be just as mobile, and then we can play together more.

Elite 'Baby SEAL' Ops

Mommy says I could be part of the elite baby armed forces, armed with a killer smile and chubby cheeks. :) I already know how to sky-dive.... this is almost exactly the same pose that Mommy's instructor taught her to take after jumping out of a plane!

When I'm on the ground, I can raise my head high and use my advanced reconnaissance skills to gain tactical advantage! :)

Tummy Time Superbaby

Mommy says I'm a super tummy timer. I can now push my chest off of the floor and look all around!

I can even do the superbaby flying pose with my arms in the air, all by myself! Note that my arms and hands are not blurry in the picture, because I can hold them in the air completely steadily!

Not even Daddy can do the same thing. Mommy says it looks like I've killed Daddy!

Puppets

I like watching the puppet shows that Daddy puts on. The stories that he makes up must sure be funny, because Mommy always laughs at them. I don't understand them yet, but soon I will find out what's so funny! Mommy is going to get more puppets for me for Christmas so Daddy can make up more stories to entertain me with.

The Pianist

Mommy started music time with me today. She played on the piano while I watched from my high chair. Mommy sat me on her lap so I could play, too.

Bonnet

Mommy and Daddy thought I should get exposed to new environments once in a while and see other people, so they took me on a quick trip to Kohl's and Best Buy on Sunday. Because it was cold, they bundled me up before taking me outside. They put me in a jacket with a hood to keep my head warm. Mommy thought I was dressed like babies in the 18th or 19th century, with a frilly bonnet.

Kai's Baby Shower

Mommy hosted a baby shower for her friends Kai and Tze on Saturday. I liked meeting their friends and getting lots of attention. Some of their guests had little kids too and I liked playing with them. I will also have a new playmate soon when Kai and Tze's baby boy arrives. It won't be long now before I will get to meet him!

In this picture, Kai looks like the movie star Angelina Jolie! :)

Superbaby II

Mommy took this photo on Tuesday right before shooting the Superbaby video. I'm getting ready to take my first recorded flight!

Nap-time In My Swing

I was so tired this afternoon, I fell alseep with Eeyore right in my swing. Daddy snuck a picture of me when I wasn't looking.

Silly

My teething ring fell across my face. Daddy and Mommy think I look silly.

My First Thanksgiving

On Thursday, I spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa Meyers and Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Mark. I also met Aunt Jennifer's cousin Reba, who was very nice. The dinner smelled delicious but I wasn't able (or rather, allowed!) to eat any of the turkey. I only got to sit in my high chair and watch. It was fun to hang out and I liked being held and all the attention, but I will like Christmas even more since I will get presents! :)

From Grouchy to...

I'm starting to sit up by myself. I don't mind sitting up, but like anything else, if I do it for too long, I get grumpy. Mommy and Daddy think I'm strange because I can go from grumpy to...

...Happy in 10 Seconds!

...happy and smiley very quickly. If I were a car, you could say I go from 0 to 60 in less than 10 seconds! :)

High Chair Fun

Daddy set up my chair last week and this is only the second time I've been in it. Mommy and Daddy are not yet giving me solid foods, but they're starting me early with the high chair because it is a convenient place for me to sit. It has a nice wide tray for toys.

I especially like to eat my toys.

Ticklish Time

Mommy has figured out that I'm ticklish in the afternoon. I'd better make sure I'm napping then, or else I'll be in trouble.

Jackie Kennedy Scarf

Mommy says this photo is reminiscent of the late Jackie Kennedy, except where she had on a fashionable silk scarf that probably cost hundreds of dollars, I have on a diaper cloth scarf that cost about 50 cents. :)

Tummy Time on Boppy

Even though I don't like tummy time, I get myself into tummy time position everywhere: in my crib, in my Gymini, even on the Boppy!

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Monkey Sleep

Yesterday I fell asleep on the Boppy after being fed. Mommy lifted the whole Boppy with me on it and placed it on the bed in my room. She said I sleep like an uncivilized monkey, all flopped over and curled backwards. As Daddy said once, "There are many monkeys in the wild that are more dignified."

My Swing My Old Friend

I like my swing again. For a period of time a month or so ago, I didn't want to sit in the swing because I wanted to be vertical and up and about all the time. But I'm rediscovering the fun of sitting and being swung. It's also a great place to create presents for Mommy and Daddy to clean up in my pants. :)

Exerciser Jumper

Mommy wants me to use this jumper more because my pediatrician yesterday was surprised I didn't use my legs to support myself when pulled to a standing position. Mommy thinks I've gotten lazy because I'm carried around so much. I get bored after lying on my back to play in my Gymini, and I don't like tummy time very much, so she picks me up after I get fussy. Even though I'm upright in my jumper, I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not nearly as nice as being carried from room to room; the scenery changes and there are always new things to look at.

Mommy showed Daddy the picture below, and Daddy said, "Maybe we should start giving the baby some brain exercises." That's mean, Daddy! I'm only 4 months old!

Four-Month Doctor Checkup

I had to go for my four-month checkup at the doctor’s office today. It tickled when the doctor was examining me and I was laughing through the checkup. The doctor asked Mommy and Daddy a lot of questions about how I’ve been doing, including my eating and sleeping patterns, my social development, and my ability to reach for and grasp objects. She held me under my arms but I didn’t try to use my legs to stand up. The doctor said that’s because I was used to being held all the time. I agree; why try to stand if you have nice warm arms carrying you around? Standing takes effort! Why work so hard? :)

The doctor measured my head size, height, and weight. I’m now 27 1/4 in. She doublechecked my height because she couldn’t believe I was so tall. 27 1/4 in. is much greater than 95th percentile for height. I also weigh 17 lbs. 6.5 oz. now. Mommy observed that it was a gain of less than 1/2 lb. a week since the last visit, and wondered if I should still be gaining weight at least at that rate. The doctor said no, it’s natural that weight gain slows down over time. She said I’m still at greater than 95th percentile for weight. My head circumference is 16 5/8 in. and is only 75th percentile. Mommy says she’s not surprised, as she’s seen some babies with gigantic heads even though they’re smaller than me. She wonders if I’m going to be as smart as they are. My answer is: do they blog? Like I do? :)

The nurse came in after the doctor to give me my vaccines. The first was for rotovirus, an oral vaccine. I really didn’t like it and kept on coughing and spitting it out. The nurse said that was ok and I didn’t need an additional dose. Then she gave me two shots containing vaccines for other illnesses. The second shot really hurt and I was very upset. My leg was also bleeding from one of the shots, and Mommy and Daddy felt very bad for me.

This is a photo that Mommy took while we were waiting for the nurse. If I had known what was coming, I’d have been quite upset.

The Opposite of Cooperation

Mommy and Daddy say I "poo-operate". That's the opposite of co-operating. More precisely, as defined by Daddy, it is "the opposite of cooperating, done with a bad attitude, and often attended by actual poop". I have been more fussy than usual today and when I woke up this morning, there was a literal poo-operation as well. The result is this mountain of laundry, including my crib mattress sheet and waterproof pad. I got some of the animals on my animal print crib sheet real good with my poo-operation. :)

This is a mug shot of the poo-operator wanted by Mommy and Daddy in connection with this poo-operation. Have you seen her? :)

My Own Room

This weekend Daddy gave up his office space, which used to be in the second bedroom, so that I can have my own room. My new room is swww-eet! It is just for me and I get to have my own space so I can sleep undisturbed whenever I want. It is also away from the kitchen and living room so that Mommy and Daddy can watch the TV with the volume up high rather than have to read subtitles. That's the first thing Mommy said, so I guess that must have been important to her. :) Daddy's office is now part of Mommy and Daddy's bedroom.

Fun Time with Pooh and Eeyore

Mommy took this video a few days ago. I like playing with my friends Pooh and Eeyore... for a little while. Daddy says this video is mildly disturbing, since it looks like I'm being attacked by half of the Hundred Acre Wood (where the Pooh gang lives). :)

Four Months Old

I’m four months old today. That makes me one-third of a year old. Mommy says I’m a big girl now and I should learn to sit up by myself soon. But I like chillin’ and hanging out with my stuffed animal buddies. Why make it hard on yourself and sit up straight when you can lean on your buddies, right? :)

Daddy got me the bear I'm sitting on. He's very soft. I've already gotten spit-up on him real good, so he's gone through the wash cycle.

Rolling Over

I rolled over from my back to my tummy unassisted for the first time today. It's harder than rolling from tummy to back. Mommy says she is very proud of me for being able to do that before I'm even four months old!

Monday Morning Gymini Fun

I like playing in my Gymini and I like to chew on my toys. I've been drooling more. Mommy thinks I may be starting to teeth.

These pictures were taken two days ago but Mommy only now had the chance to post them up since Daddy was sick on Monday and Mommy had to go to New York City for interviews yesterday. Daddy took good care of me while Mommy was away. He even took me out in the stroller so I could get some sunshine. It was a nice day.

While Mommy was traveling on her trip yesterday, she said she looked at these photos many times since she missed me.

My First Magic Show

Today I got to see my first magic show! I enjoyed it. Grandpa Meyers is a good magician and Grandma Meyers does a good job as the assistant. They put on a fun show. I think it is neat how Grandpa can make lots of bottles appear on a table and make bottles and cups trade places without moving them. He can also make scarves appear whenever he wants them to. I especially like the bunny scarf Grandpa pulled out of thin air!

I got to see Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Mark. Aunt Jennifer held me in her arms and sat with me up front with all the other kids so I could see the show. I watched the whole show and didn't make a fuss. Mommy and Daddy were surprised that I was so well behaved.

Hangin' Out

More sitting and chilling with Daddy.

Glamor Shot

When Mommy and Daddy sign me up for auditions for cute baby commercials and advertisements, I will use this picture. Aunt Joyce took it of me about two weeks ago. Mommy says she likes how my eyes glitter like a Japanese anime character on TV.
